Insitu Geotech Services

Insitu Geotech Services (IGS) is a specialist in situ testing and sampling contactor that is recognized, both nationally and internationally, as “one of the best”!

We are physically based and staffed in Brisbane and Melbourne. We also operate “virtual bases” out of Sydney, Newcastle, Launceston, Townsville and PNG.

IGS is 100% Australian owned, operated and staffed.

Since our founding in 2000, our clearly-expressed mission of helping clients is to “reduce geotechnical uncertainty”.

IGS is managed and run by three very experienced geotechnical engineers and two long-experienced Project Operators. We strive to better understand our clients in situ testing and sampling needs and equally as important how to satisfy these needs.

In our field of work, IGS can do anything (almost). We have 15 different testing/sampling rigs. We can work almost anywhere, on almost any site: land; swamp; tailings dam; or over-water on ponds, lakes, rivers, estuaries or bays.

Any or all of these rigs can:

Undertake the following in situ tests:

(i) CPT, CPTu & Seismic CPTu;
(ii) DMT & Seismic DMT;
(iii) P-Wave Profiling by SPDMT;
(iv) Tee Bar & Ball-Cone Testing;
(v) Direct-Push Vane Shear Testing.

Take the following types of direct-push samples:

(i) very high quality 63mm and 75mm piston samples (by our PPI devices);
(ii) disturbed but un-mixed and uncontaminated samples by Vertek Sampler or Geomil’s Ranger Samplers;
(iii) Vibracore Samples;
(iv) extremely soft to “liquid" sediment and/or tailings samples by our two Sucker Samplers;
(v) large bulk samples of extremely soft sediments or tailings using our BS Sampler.

We operate throughout Australia, PNG and beyond!
